Planning to travel?
The following is taken from the site of www.cropperhopper.com and I just thought it was interesting!
PREPARING FOR A CROP
Crops can be a wonderful chance for you to get caught up on pages, catch up with friends, and enjoy your hobby with other scrapbookers who understand your obsession. But planning ahead is very important to your success – it is a proven fact that the less you bring to a crop, the more you’ll actually get done. Here are a few tips to help you prepare:
1. Mission Statement: A crop is a rare chunk of time to spend on yourself. How long will the crop last? What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to socialize? Do you want to set a goal for completed pages? Would you like to complete a mini-album? Do you want to try to master a new technique? Do you want to organize your photos? Knowing what you want to get out of it and how much time you’ll have to do it is crucial to your planning, and helps to avoid frustration at the end of the day if you don’t achieve what you set out to do.
2. Gather your Blueprints: If you’re planning to get a certain number of pages done, having a blueprint for each page, whether a sketch, a rough drawing, or inspiration from a print ad or a layout you’d like to borrow, is an important step in the planning process. If these points of inspiration are in a book or magazine, consider copying them or cutting them out of the book so you can place it directly with your photos and papers.
3. Match Photos to the Blueprints: 3. Match Photos to the Blueprints: Once you have your sketches in mind, find photos that will coordinate with them. Then for each set of blueprint and photos, do the following steps:
5. Bring a Small Sticky-note Pad to the Crop: If you forget to bring something for your page, or decide it needs just one more thing, you can write it on the sticky note and attach it to your page. Now you have a perfect reminder when you get home!
Packing for crops does not need to be a huge chore the day before you go – keep your supplies organized – that way, if you get a last minute invitation to a crop, you’ll be able to grab and go! You’ll have fun, get more done, and be proud of your accomplishments!

- Journal: You know from your sketches where the journaling will go and how big it should be, so now is the perfect time to write it. Once you have your papers together, you can print it out – that way, your pages will be completely finished at the crop!
- Coordinate Papers with your Photos and Journaling: Match the papers to the colors in your photos and the mood of your journaling.
- Choose your embellishments: Whether your title will be printed on paper, created with stickers, or some other type of embellishment, gather the supplies for that, and then think about your finishing touches and include those. You may want to bring more than one option so you can decide exactly how you like it when you have everything else in place.
5. Bring a Small Sticky-note Pad to the Crop: If you forget to bring something for your page, or decide it needs just one more thing, you can write it on the sticky note and attach it to your page. Now you have a perfect reminder when you get home!

W Squared
When we have a vendor that shows us support, with permission, we like to do a little feature on them when we can.
When one of our co-ordinators, Gaye Carpenter, stumbled across this hot little number, I couldn't help but jump on board. I couldn't wait to ask Wendy all about "W Squared Scrapbooking"... here is what she shared:
"W2 Scrapbooking was created in need – I needed to have all the stuff readily available! Being in Northeastern Alberta there really was never much of an option for product. In 1998 – W2 Scrapbooking opened in the basement of my home, taking up a small corner of our storage room (oh, how times have changed). In 2007, W2 Scrapbooking went high tech – online! Everything about the site is kept simple to keep prices down – which makes us all happy! Since I don’t have the large overhead of a brick and mortar store and I work hard to always get the best deal possible I am able to pass it on to you and therefore have very competitive prices.

W2
Scrapbooking has loads of different products and not always ‘all’ of a product
(line) as this is my way of forcing you to think 'outside the package'. There are so many products available it is
easy to be overwhelmed and scared off.
Really there is no need to be – use what you have and don’t be afraid to
mix and match. Color is color and
pattern is pattern – don’t be afraid to mix it up, layer it up, color it
up. Show your own creativity – remember, there is no wrong way to scrapbook.
If
you have a few spare hours, head over to the site (www.wsquaredscrapbooking.com)
and enjoy the nearly 5000 items available!
With Winter 2013 CHA over, new product will start arriving weekly
(sometimes even daily). So be sure to
check the site often! If you have any questions on about the site or a product,
please be sure to send me an email. If
there are items you would like me to bring in, all you have to do is ask and I
will see what I can do for you.
Then
be sure to check out the blog (http://shinnyobjects.blogspot.ca). You might ask – why Shiny Objects? Well first off the spelling mistake was my
error, not to mention that the actual name Shiny Objects was already
taken…bummer right?! I was determined to
have the blog called this as I am always getting sidetracked by all those shiny
objects on the internet. Have you ever seen that Disney Pixar movie UP, well I
would have to say I am the equivalent to the dog Dug – ‘squirrel’! I know most of you can relate - I am probably
one of the few that admits to it.
I
look forward to seeing you around….."
Wendy is contributing some great door prizes to our upcoming event. At the Go All Night Fundraiser, we guarantee that every registrant goes home with a door prize!
Can't beat that!
Ciao!

So much to do....
Here are the projects we will be offering at the Go All Night event in March. When you register, we will email it directly to your inbox.
We have decided to offer 3 Classes, along with a Make'N'Take Bar. The class sizes are smaller for full instructional benefit, and we strive to keep the costs affordable. However, seating is also limited and are accounted for on a first paid, first served basis. The Bar is sponsored by local Stampin' Up rep, Tammy Predovic.
There will also be an interactive demonstration of the Silhoette Cameo machine, by our "cutting machine extraordaire", returning for the fifth year in a row!
There will be featured product demonstrations from EACH of our scrapbook vendors that attendees can take advantage of. We are all about a "hands-on" approach! Some will demonstrate tried and true techniques, and others will bring new products to WOW you!
There is going to opportunity to learn so much! And if all else fails...and you choose to simply scrap away and be pampered....well, that's a whole "nother post!
Ciao for now,
Bon

My Funny Valentine!

A great idea!
I believe we all have those random collections of photos that we would just like to get down on a page. Maybe we really want them in our books, but they just don't quite partner up with other photos.
Or Maybe, it's those loose photos we get with our holiday greetings that just need to find a home...
Well, here is a post from the blog of October Afternoon, a beautiful scrapbook line that is always full of bright colours, and great embellishments, that shows a quick, well thought out method of dealing with those photos!
It might even be a cool idea on how to spend your time at the next crop!
http://octoberafternoon.typepad.com/october_afternoon/2013/01/january-challenge-over-and-over.html
Note the repetition, while maintaining the originality!
Love it!
Till next time,
Ciao!

Welcome 2013!
Wow! It felt like the last year went quickly...and all downhill.
2012 was not a great adventure, but it had it's moments! Sometimes, when things go well, it's a good idea to revisit them.
That's what we are doing at our Go All Night event this year! Although it is not an anniversary year for us, it is still about the mainstay of knowing what worked well. Here are 5 guarantees that you can bank on at this years event, like every other:
1) Same great location. Spirit of the North Community School has all the amenities we need to make this a fabulous event. A great big kitchen, additional rooms for resting, great big foyer for classes, and even a shower facility to kick start your day...or night!
2) Energetic, warm welcoming co-ordinators. We are here to make sure that you are satisfied with your weekend and get more bang for your buck than expected!
3) Attractive, competitive Silent Auction. Our Auction is always full of goodies for everyone! From gift cards, pampering goodies, scrapbooking treats, and more from all over the country!
4) Demonstrations to motivate, inspire and challenge you.
5) Plenty of cropping space and plenty of cropping time.
We hope to see you there! We are over half full, and our Early Bird cutoff is fast approaching on February 1, 2013.
Don't hesitate!
